Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN)

When you think of a worst case scenario, most likely it includes a WMD. By definition, it’s a conventional or improvised weapon using nuclear, radiological, chemical, biological or great amounts of high explosive to kill, destroy, harass, or deny access to large areas and populations. The effects can be lasting and have generational consequences. WCTS is equipped with experts and experience to train and mentor your skilled professionals. Ranging from large vehicle borne improvised explosive devices (VBIED) to radiological dispersal devices (RDD), WCTS can deliver the training and mentorship to your skilled professional to plan and prepare for, what hopefully is only an exercise, a WMD incident.

chem testEOD Technicians are trained in CBRNE and WMD response in order to safely mitigate the hazards associated with these threats. Detection, location, and identification of the hazardous source are fundamental skills associated with this mission. CBRN/WMD response demands a level of attention to detail that requires constant, repetitive practice in order to safely mitigate explosive and contamination hazards. Essential planning and coordination are the drivers to effective CBRNE/WMD response and the safeguard of personnel.

WCTS is one of the few companies to have provided live agent training to Explosive Ordnance Device (EOD) and Special Operations Forces. Our Live Agent Training commences with a baseline of instruction on Chemical, Biological, and Radiological warfare agents, safety and mission briefing, and mission equipment. We custom design the curriculum to focus and incorporate the attending unit’s specific CBRN mission and their issued equipment. Using the familiar building block method of training and exercise progression, the course advances from classroom and practical applications to “walk- through dry exercises” (inert agents) to the final evaluation “full mission live exercises” (use of live chemical/biological agents). A variety of scenario based training which includes access, reconnaissance, sampling and identification, decontamination, casualty management and EOD render safe have been delivered ranging from complex manufacturing labs to simple dispersal devices. All training aids are produced by WCTS unless contaminated items are requested.

All Chemical, Biological and Radiological Agents are handled by qualified personnel, with decontamination checks formally recorded and filed in accordance with regulations.

Along with our Live Agent Training course, WCTS also trains EOD Technicians through simulated CBRN exercises that allow for the influences and effects of a complex environment. These training courses provide the EOD Technicians the ability to plan for and coordinate a CBRN response utilizing proper protective equipment and leak, seal, package and decontamination procedures.

Biological and Chemical Munitions Disposal (BCMD)

Biological and Chemical Munitions pose particular handling and disposal hazards. Not only will counter-threat personnel be expected to deal with modern munitions that require EOD attention, the possibility of encountering old unserviceable and possibly degraded biological and chemical munitions (with inherent associated risks) is ever present. Preparation of an appropriately trained and equipped response to deal with the munitions either in site or at pre-arranged demolition site is critical.
